Dear friends,
October greetings! This coming month brings the annual High Holidays in the Jewish calendar. From Rosh Hashone biz Simkhas Toyre many of our community will be celebrating the Jewish New Year and the following journey, which takes one from quiet self-reflection and atonement for past misdeeds, through communal appreciation for the harvest and the autumn season, to joy and celebration at the end. It can be a long road, but it's nice to know that dancing and music will be waiting, a few weeks after we hear the shofar blow.
Despite the holiday schedule, there is still a lot going on in Berlin's Yiddish community this month! There are two Shtetl Berlin zingerayen, a klezmer session, poetry, and concerts to attend. All info below.
With wishes for a sweet new year, an easy fast, and that you will be surrounded by friends, family, and community,
In peace,
Patrick and the Shtetl Berlin team
