2024 Australian Mathematics Competition Achievement

Image description

This year, AIS once again demonstrated its strong tradition of excellence in mathematics by participating in the Australian Mathematics Competition (AMC), the largest maths competition in the country. Over the years, AIS students have consistently achieved outstanding results, and 2024 was no exception.

We are delighted to announce that 92% of our students received a certificate of award in this year’s competition, reflecting the high calibre of mathematical ability at AIS. This accomplishment highlights our students' dedication, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.

A special mention goes to Yao Hua from Middle Years, who received a Certificate of High Distinction, placing in the top 3% of participants in the Intermediate division. This is an exceptional achievement, and we are incredibly proud of Yao Hua’s hard work and success.

We also congratulate the following students for receiving Certificates of Distinction, placing them in the top 20% of participants in their respective divisions:

  • Mohammadparsa Salari (Year 12)
  • Xingcan Li (Year 10)
  • Aoyou Yang (Middle Years)

The full list of award winners is as follows:

2024 South Australia Investigation with Mathematics Competition Achievement

We are thrilled to announce that Mohammadparsa (Parsa) Salari, one of our outstanding Year 12 students, has achieved remarkable success in the South Australia Investigation with Mathematics Competition (SAMTQ) this year. Parsa’s investigation, titled "How Can Integral Calculus Be Used to Find the Volumes of Solids of Revolution in Real-Life Applications?", earned him the prestigious 2nd place individual prize.

This is an extraordinary accomplishment, especially considering the level of competition he faced. Parsa competed against the best mathematical minds from schools across South Australia, making his achievement even more impressive. What makes this recognition even more special is that this was AIS’s very first time participating in SAMTQ, and Parsa has set a high standard for future entries.

His investigation applied advanced concepts from integral calculus to explore real-world problems, showcasing not only his mastery of the subject but also his creativity and ability to translate abstract mathematical theories into practical applications. This recognition reflects his hard work, dedication, and passion for mathematics.

Parsa’s achievement shines a spotlight on the quality of the maths education at AIS and highlights the strong analytical skills our students are developing. We couldn’t be prouder of Parsa and his outstanding success.

We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Parsa on this fantastic achievement and look forward to continued success from our students in future competitions.
