Meet Clayton Schoonover

We're pleased to have Clayton Schoonover join the Meeple Mountain writing team. Here's a brief bit about Clayton, followed by his current Top 3 Games.

I love board gaming. I've loved it since I was a teenager. I love the worlds that are designed for games, the strategies involved, the social aspect, the art, and even the smell of cardboard from a new game.

  1. Castles of Burgundy: Historically, I've been...not good at strategizing future moves and planning on any game that I play. Combos are always difficult. But for some reason, Castles of Burgundy just clicks with me, and I feel like I have a real competitive edge with it and I love it.
  2. Terraforming Mars: I'm terrible at engine building, but heavens to murgatroid, do I love seeing all those cards and options on the table. Terraforning Mars is engine building at its finest. I love all the different options and possible play styles it lets you try out.
  3. Cascadia: There is nothing quite as satisfying as completing a puzzle, and that's all Cascadia is. The combination of climate placement and animal placement means points will always be scored, but figuring out how best to optimize those points is truly rewarding.

This Week's Puzzle

This week's puzzle involves 3D printed replacements for a popular game. In the photo, the 3D printed meeple are each atop the colored cube they replaced. This game has been reviewed on Meeple Mountain, but what is the game?
