ANNOUNCEMENT

AAOS – Invited Society



For the first time in SPOT’s history, we will have AAOS – American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons as the Invited Society of our Annual Meeting. Soon, we will have more information about AAOS’ participation in our event, regarding not only the topic of the AAOS round table, but also the information about the American colleagues who will participate in the sessions of each Affiliated Society, Section and Committee of SPOT. Please keep an eye out for the monthly newsletters we will send about the Congress.

Abstract Submission



The abstract submission for the 43rd Annual Meeting of the Portuguese Society of Orthopaedics and Traumatology will open on March 15th .



Our international colleagues who have accepted free papers, will have a special registration rate and will be able to participate remotely in our Congress. We look forward to receiving your submissions!

Orthopaedic Nurses Congress



The Association of Portuguese Orthopedics and Traumatology Nurses (AEPOT) will open on  March 15th the call for abstracts for free papers and themes for their Congress, which will take place during the 43rd Annual Meeting of the Portuguese Society of Orthopaedics and Traumatology.

With this initiative, AEPOT intends to increase the number of members, and boost the participation of the Annual Meeting. “The objective is to promote the dissemination of papers of national relevance, which may not have yet had the opportunity to be presented”, shared Carmen Queirós, president of AEPOT.



The deadline for submitting abstracts is April 30th.

Physical Therapists Meeting



The session for Physical Therapists during the 43rd Annual Meeting of the Portuguese Society of Orthopaedics and Traumatology, will take place on Saturday, November 9th , and the organisation will be coordinated by physical therapist Olímpio Pereira, responsible for the promotion of physiotherapists in the Algarve region.

The initiative will address topics such as the current state of physiotherapy and future perspectives for this practice, its autonomy, and the laws that govern the profession, as well as its relationship with other health professions and also with funders. In addition, clinical cases between physical therapists and orthopedists will be discussed, seeking to analyze the particular view of the two specialties.

The meeting will have a hybrid model, encouraging the participation of a greater number of health professionals, and it will be sponsored by the Association of Physical Therapists. 

CISPOT Meeting



The Annual Meeting of the Orthopaedic Residents’ Committee of SPOT will take place, as usual, during SPOT’s Congress, on Friday, November 8th, from 11 am to 12.30 pm. Don’t miss it!

Trauma Basic Course for 2nd year Orthopaedic Residents



Just like last year, MBA will once again this year, organize the Basic Trauma Course for 2nd year orthopaedic Residents, who will be contacted shortly, so that they can sign up and attend this course, which will have the practical sessions on wednesday, 6 november.

In addition to this course, MBA will also be organizing a trauma course for Orthopaedic and Trauma Nurses.
