Dear changemaker,
When Dana Williams, our client at the H. E. Butt Foundation, first reached out to Greater Good Studio, she described local challenges such as the lack of quality health care, child care, and early learning opportunities. She then said something which rang so true, it’s been resonating with me ever since: “While these challenges are not unique to our county, I know the solutions will be.”
Many places across America are dealing with similar issues. It can be tempting to roll out evidence-based programs and expect results. But solutions must be localized, and localization needs learning and engagement. This is where design comes in.
Our work in Real County shows how human-centered design can help programs respond to local conditions. This process engaged and inspired residents to create meaningful solutions, which reflected their community's unique strengths and characteristics.
Please enjoy the case study, and let me know what you think!
