| Earlier this month, our own Justin Bell traveled to Denver, CO to attend the TraXX gaming convention. He's become intrigued by the 18XX train game format, one that mixes building train routes, delivering goods, and stock shares, all in a game that can last from 3 to 10 hours. We lead off our Recent Posts section with his reflections on the convention, then follow that with his Top Three 18XX Games. |
|
Here are some of our most recent articles, starting with Justin's thoughts on the TraXX Train Game Convention in Denver, CO. |

| Justin's Top Three 18XX Games... |
|
- 1880: China, a game I reviewed last year and still works thanks to its very interesting mid-game mechanics and private investors that operate like minors.
- 18MS, which works as an intro 18xx game and one I am using to introduce newer players to this niche part of the hobby.
- 18ESP, currently in alpha on 18xx.games: designed by the same guy who co-designed 1880 as well as other 18xx titles, Leonhard "Lonny" Orgler. 18ESP has a massive map, with "dual gauge" track that needs to be navigated by railroad companies in both northern and southern Spain. 18ESP seems like the first 18xx title to navigate the "worst" part of these longer train games: the final third is just as interesting as the rest of the game.
