Transitioning to summer...

Thank you to those who participated in, volunteered at, or just came and hung out during the Tally Ho event! There was a great turnout, guests enjoyed our beautiful country, and money was raised to support our hounds!

We will soon get rolling with our summer activities, including hound walking and trail familiarization rides, but first—hound show and annual meeting!

Central States Hound Show – May 4

Hound shows provide an opportunity for hunts to showcase their hounds' confirmation, fitness, and keenness against hounds from other hunts in the region. They also provide a great opportunity for camaraderie and networking. We are proud to the hosting hunt for the Central States Hound Show for the 12th year this May 4th. Please see details below.

This year's table theme is Triple Crown Winners! (Each participating hunt will decorate their table with items related to a Triple Crown-winning horse.)

Volunteer to Help!

Volunteers are needed to help us handle and show our hounds! Showing hounds involves some "pre-work"—learning what happens in the ring and practicing what to do—before the show, then being present to prep and handle hounds on show day. We also need help just holding hounds between classes. If you are able to/interested in helping, please contact MFH Teresa Griffith.

CSHS membership or sponsor payments can be made via Venmo to organizer and FLH MFH/honorary huntsman Steve Thomas using the QR code below or via check.

Annual Meeting, Wednesday May 8

We look forward to seeing you at our annual meeting on Wednesday, May 8 at 6:00pm at McGuire's, which will be a potluck. We will discuss the "year-in-review", summer events, the upcoming hunt season, and any member concerns.

In advance of the meeting, please review this masters' letter to the membership

Another Nick Redman original will be awarded at the FLH Annual Meeting!
This coat/hat/tack rack features a hand-engraved FLH hound and hand-forged hooks. (Could that be Dixie...? What a great memento to have for supporting the organization that helps care for our hounds!) Perfect for home or barn. Raffle tickets are $20 each or 6 for $100. (Need not be present to win. Use the QR code below to purchase tickets.)

LAC Information

Image description

A Local Access Credential (LAC) allows civilians to enter Fort Leavenworth without having to stop at the visitor center each time. Members needing to obtain or renew a LAC must complete the Applicant Information and Criminal History sections of the LAC application (click image to download) and submit it to Master Candy Smith. You may also email your info to Candy or provide it over the phone (913-948-0189) and she will complete the form for you. She will then submit it to the FMWR Director, who will sign it and forward it to the Visitor Center (VCC) for processing. Current processing time is 2.5–3 weeks. Renewing LAC holders, please note this is a new form.

For those who need only temporary access to Ft. Leavenworth (for the hunt ball, for example), please register for a one-day pass online.
