Firstly, speaking on Thursday 13 June at the opening of #GFN24, is internationally renowned expert in lung health, allergies and public health, Professor Andrzej Fal. The current President of the Polish Society of Public Health, he leads the Department of Allergies, Lung and Internal Diseases at Poland’s National Institute of Medicine, and over the course of a distinguished career has published more than 350 papers.

Professor Fal’s #GFN24 keynote, titled ‘Health and economic benefits of tobacco harm reduction’, will examine the impact of different models of policy and use of safer nicotine products and continued combustible tobacco use, on individual and population health. Hosted by Dr. Grzegorz Król, Professor Fal’s address will be followed by a response from Michelle Minton, senior policy analyst at the US-based Reason Foundation.

On Saturday 15 June, Vivien Azer will deliver her keynote, titled ‘Tobacco harm reduction market influence - past, present, future'. A leading financial analyst and nicotine market specialist, she will be sharing a perspective drawn from her stellar career on Wall Street where, until recently, she was Managing Director and Senior Analyst in Global Beverages, Tobacco and Cannabis at T.D. Cowen.

In her keynote Vivien Azer will discuss the complex factors that prompted and drove initial investment in the field, as well as the potential impacts of regulation or prohibition on future investment patterns. As the first senior US financial analyst to cover the emerging cannabis sector, she will consider whether there are lessons to be learned from its trajectory for the safer nicotine product industry. Hosted by David Sweanor, Adjunct Professor at the Faculty of Law, University of Ottowa, the response will be offered by Jon Fell, former Chief Executive Officer and Partner at the UK-based investment firm, Ash Park Capital.

Showcasing your films at #GFN24!

You have just FOUR weeks left to submit your entries for #GFNFives, Science Lab and the GFN Film Festival in time for #GFN24!

#GFNFives and GFN Science Lab are our replacement for conference posters, giving you the opportunity to share your stories, discoveries and insights with the GFN community! Create a 5 minute short film, presentation or slideshow with voiceover covering THR policy, science, consumer advocacy and regional updates - for inspiration, why not take a look at some of our previous #GFNFives entries here! Scientific #GFNFives will be eligible for inclusion in GFN Science Lab, which will showcase the latest research from the GFN community. Selected Science Lab entries will be invited to present a 15 minute session (including screening of their 5 minute film) live at #GFN24 in Warsaw. Entrants must ensure they will attend #GFN24 in-person in Warsaw.

And in a new addition for #GFN24, the GFN Film Festival offers you the freedom to submit films of any length that capitalise on the power of visual storytelling to explore diverse stories, discoveries and to spread awareness of tobacco harm reduction and the public health potential of safer nicotine products. Non-scientific #GFNFives are eligible for submission to the GFN Film Festival, and selected films will be screened in-person live at #GFN24 in Warsaw. And best of all? Our panel of esteemed judges will determine the “Best In Fest” film at #GFN24, with a $500 prize going to the winning entry!
