Banish those winter blues and join us at some warming green events!

1. Wassailing

Join us in the Greening Your Footprint Garden for an urban take on the old tradition of Winter Wassailing - 'singing the trees awake', and sharing some hot spiced apple juice with them, as the days begin to grow longer.

Winter Wassailing has its roots in people getting out to visit their trees and orchards in the latter part of winter, to check their health and wish them "Wass Hail' (Good Health!") for the coming year.

It included making 'a merry noise' by singing, clashing pots and pans and tools together, and sharing hot spiced cider with each other and the trees. Which all seem like great ways to boost human energy and connections - as well as those of the trees - in a bleak time of year.

So why not wrap up warm on Saturday for a short Wassailing meet up with fellow community gardeners. And to let our young trees (and ourselves!) know that, though it feels like deepest winter, the light is changing and spring is on its way.

Hot spiced cider and cake provided - bring your own cup if you can.

When: Saturday 20th January, 11am-12:30.
Where:
Greening Your Footprint Community Garden, Kentish Town Fire Station.

2. Energy Saving Bus.
