From The Desk Of The Executive Director

Dear CWOs,

I hope this message finds you well. This is a reminder that our CWOA Quarterly Meeting is scheduled for tomorrow at noon eastern, at the Black Rose in downtown Boston.  We will go live on zoom around 1230 eastern time.  While initially, we did not plan for a virtual option due to venue constraints, the impending government shutdown on Sunday has made it imperative to extend a virtual participation option to all members.

Please find the Zoom information below for virtual attendance:

We kindly ask all members to remain muted until called upon. To be recognized, please use the icon to raise your hand within Zoom. Any violation of the meeting rules, including speaking without being called on, will result in removal from the meeting.

Agenda Highlights:

Upcoming Government Shutdown: Discussion and Implications
Chapter Assistance during Shutdown
Services Offered for Member Aid
Legislative Initiatives and Updates

We have been actively collaborating with CPOA and Sea Service Family, Foundation regarding these issues, and more information can be found at the following link: Click Here To Read The Letter

Additionally, we are working closely with the 13th MCPOCG Jason Vanderhaden. His insights can be found at the following link: Click Here To Read The Letter

There is a collective letter being drafted, with signatures from every living MCPOCG, addressing this crisis.

As of now, the payment for the 1st is secured. However, without a legislative agreement by 11:59 PM on the 12th, no pay will be processed for the 15th.

It's crucial to understand that any early discussions on military pay before the shutdown may lead to Congress denying the necessary legislation as their current focus is on passing a budget.

CWOA will continue to provide timely updates as more information becomes available.

We look forward to your attendance, physically or virtually, tomorrow at noon to discuss these critical issues further.

Cheers,

Mike

Very Respectfully,
