| Eric Nominated for OCBA Secretary |
|
Eric has been nominated to run as Secretary in the Orange County Bar Association's (OCBA) upcoming fall 2023 election for a term of office beginning January 1, 2024. Says Eric, "Our Bar Association remains among the strongest in the nation. I am running for OCBA Secretary because I believe that together we must continue to take the lead in meeting the changing needs of our profession." Voting opens online (www.ocbar.org) on Tuesday, September 5, 2023 continuing through 12:00 PM on Tuesday, September 26, 2023. Only active attorney members of the OCBA are eligible to vote. | Bucket List Trip: Banff National Park |
|
In August, Pamela and Eric took a Bucket List trip to Banff National Park. The first day began with the reddish hues of an alpenglow sunrise followed by a trip across the Bow River Bridge to Bow Falls - a must-walk and see when visiting Banff. They explored Lake Minnewanka, the Banff Hoodoos, Tunnel Mountain, Cascade Gardens, and Two Jack Lake. The day ended with a gondola ride to the top of Sulfur Mountain. The days following included sightings of a black bear and young buck, Lake Louise, Moraine Lake, and Morant's Curve where the Bow River yields itself to a spectacular view of the Rockies and surrounding valley. Surrounded by lush forests, brilliant turquoise lakes, wildlife, and mountain views, Pamela and Eric were repeatedly awestruck by Mother Nature's handiwork. They rounded out the trip by attending an American Board of Trial Attorneys (ABOTA) Awards Gala with a Black-Tie Cowboy theme. Added bonus - this extraordinary adventure began with a stopover in Seattle to see Pamela's daughter and grandson, Vance. Says Pamela, "It doesn't get any better than this." |

| Eric Guest Speaker for CAALA 2023 Vegas |
|
Over Labor Day Weekend 2023, Eric was a guest speaker for the largest convention of trial attorneys in the nation - CAALA 2023 Vegas, a premier event for lawyers who specialize in representing plaintiffs. Addressing the topic of Ethics, Eric offered his insight from 30 plus years of legal experience. Says Eric, "My hope was to empower others with the tools that would benefit their clients and their practice of law." The event was held August 31st - September 3 at the Bellagio, Vegas. | Eric to be Honored with ADL's Jurisprudence Award |
|
On September 21, 2023, from 5:30 pm to 9:30 pm, Eric will be one of the three legal professionals and honored recipients of the 2023 Marcus M. Kaufman Jurisprudence Awards. Held at the Turnip Rose Promenade and Gardens located at 1570 Scenic Ave in Costa Mesa, CA 92626, the night will include a reception, auction, dinner, and awards. Quite a prestigious honor, co-recipients are Brian Burke Farrell (Banc of California, N.A.), and the Honorable Glenda Sanders - retired, (JAMS). The Anti-Defamation League presents the Marcus M. | Eric's Birthday Fundraiser for Project Youth OCBF |
|
In early August 2023, Eric celebrated another trip around the sun. To celebrate, he initiated a Birthday Fundraiser benefitting the nonprofit Project Youth Orange County Bar Foundation (OCBF). Eric chose Project Youth OCBF because of their mission to keep at-risk youth in school, healthy and drug-free through education, counseling, mentoring, and family strengthening. Says Eric, "This non-profit means a lot to me, and I am grateful to all who contributed to Project Youth OCBA as a way to celebrate my birthday with me." Eric has been an active board member for 15 years and has witnessed the life-changing work Project Youth does every year. | It's a Beautiful Summer for Baseball |
|
Underneath a gorgeous August 8th sky, Eric and Pamela watched a great baseball game that ended a 7-game losing streak for the Angels. Up against the SF Giants, the Angels claimed a 7 to 5 victory. Adding to the excitement, pitcher Lucas Giolito took to the mound wearing the Angels uniform for the first time. As avid Angels fans, Eric and Pamela are eternally hopeful of a world series run. | Traut Firm Field Trip: Dolphin & Whale Watching |
|
In July, the Traut Firm went on a field trip - or better yet, a sea trip. Eric, Pamela, Connor, and the Traut Firm crew shipped out with Captain Dave's Dana Point Dolphin & Whale Watching Safari. Although no whales were spotted, the dolphins were everywhere. Captain Dave's underwater viewing pods made the sightings even more spectacular. If you are looking for a family-friendly, eco-friendly, educational experience, this is it. Plumber, Taylor Brandlen, installed all new valves and lines on every sink and toilet, in addition to two water heaters. Not smelly, despite Big River temperatures exceeding 110 Degrees, and always had a smile. On time and provided detailed estimates for the two days of work he performed. Employee Profile: Lupe Morales |

Lupe Morales is the Traut Firm’s newest Legal Assistant. Having previously worked as a legal assistant at firms practicing immigration law and criminal defense, this position is her introduction to personal injury law. She first attended Santa Monica Community College where she received an AA in Social and Behavioral Science, then transferred to Loyola Marymount University, majoring in History with a minor in Economics.
Lupe has rapidly proven herself an indispensable part of the Traut firm family. She is responsible for the initiation of lawsuits and communication with all parties involved, ensuring the proper service of documents, record acquisition and organization, e-filing of court documents, as well as the scheduling and calendaring of important dates.
