Since May of 2018, I have been working with a student twice a week. He started lessons at the end of seventh grade as he was preparing to attend the first of three Spanish immersion summer programs in Spain. For the first couple of years, we worked on advanced grammar and enrichment. Now that he is a high school senior in AP Spanish, we focus on developing his fluency and becoming truly bilingual. He can explain complex topics such as learning to drive, football, and calculus. Last week, a few minutes after receiving his early decision acceptance to his first choice Ivy League university, he joined his usual lesson and shared the news with me. Later on that evening, I received an affirming message from his proud father to thank me for all of my help over the past five years "...in making him the great person he has become...you helped us mold him...you have been incredible."
