Booking now open for #GFN24: with economical prices, it’s got a theme to match

Image description

Since the curtain fell on #GFN23, the GFN Team has been super busy, secretly formulating next year’s plans. We are very pleased to announce that #GFN24 will take place live in Warsaw from 13 - 15 June 2024 and will be themed ‘Economics, Health and Tobacco Harm Reduction’. In keeping with a programme that will explore costs and savings, we’re happy to confirm that registration fees for #GFN24 will be frozen at 2023 prices.

Register for #GFN24 live in Warsaw and online!

The economic impact of tobacco harm reduction will be influential in both the public health and policymaking spheres. We’ll explore it from various angles, whether that’s quantifying the potential healthcare savings of a harm reduction approach, or the role of falling tobacco tax revenues, or state-involved tobacco income, on safer product regulation. #GFN24 will feature our signature blend of keynote sessions, panel discussions and workshops, with leading figures and up-and-coming voices in the THR world. Selected sessions will also be streamed live on the Global Forum on Nicotine YouTube channel for free.

Remaining the only international conference that focuses on the role of safer nicotine products in tobacco harm reduction, we continue to practise an ‘open door’ policy and encourage all stakeholders to participate, including consumers and manufacturers, alongside academics, scientists, regulators and policymakers.

Building on the success of #GFN23, we’ll also be running workshops in Russian and Spanish, and all of our main sessions will be translated in Russian and Spanish. We welcome your innovative workshop concepts for #GFN24, however there are a limited amount of spaces for workshops, so please contact [email protected] if you would like to organise one!

More film opportunities at #GFN24: #GFNFives, #ScienceLab and the #GFN24 Film Festival!

GFN works at its very best with the ever-impressive contributions of you, our GFN community. So the #GFNFives will be returning to #GFN24, alongside the brand new #ScienceLab sessions and the #GFN24 Film Festival. #GFNFives are five-minute multimedia presentations featuring your unique viewpoints - whether that’s from the frontlines of THR communication and advocacy, or from the research work you’re conducting. And this year, scientific #GFNFives can be put forward for the new #ScienceLab sessions, at which selected videos will be screened, with authors invited to delve deeper in a 10-minute presentation. Need some inspiration? Take a look at this selection of #GFNFives from #GFN23 for some top-tier short films. But that’s not all!

Let your creativity shine through at the #GFN24 Film Festival. Filmmakers, creators, and advocates are invited to submit work of any length that highlights the importance of tobacco harm reduction for public health. These films should raise awareness, educate, or inspire positive change for individuals and communities concerning tobacco use and its associated risks. Selected works will be screened in Warsaw, with a $500 prize for the ‘Best In Fest’. #GFNFives are eligible for consideration.

Rewatch your favourite #GFN23 sessions on the GFN YouTube Channel!

In case you missed it, you can now rewatch all of your favourite #GFN23 sessions for free on the GFN website and Youtube channel. From Roberto Sussman’s Michael Russell Oration, which tackled academic biases head-on, to Paul Newhouse’s exploration of the cutting edge of nicotine neuroscience, an interactive exploration of the last decade of THR, the trials and tribulations of scientific publishing, and workshops exploring the impact of regulation in Australia, the Philippines, Central Asia and global reactions to safer nicotine products.

2023 was the first year we offered Spanish and Russian language sessions at GFN, and we were delighted with the response from the GFN community! Click the links to recap both Spanish language sessions, exploring THR perceptions in Ibero-America and consumer preparations for COP10, and this Russian-language workshop which provided a window into broader harm reduction efforts in Central Asia.

What’s not to like? We can’t wait for you to join us at #GFN24 in Warsaw and online in June 2024!
