Eric Celebrated as One of 2023's TOP GUN Recipients

On November 11, 2023, Eric was one of five celebrated as the OCTLA's 2023 TOP GUN Trial Lawyers of the Year. Over 400 people attended the TOP GUN GALA which benefited CASA of Orange County (CASA). The night included a surprise one-two-punch glove signing appearance by boxing great, Sugar Ray Leonard. Raising over $250,000 for CASA was only topped by the fact that the award winners managed to keep their acceptance speeches under 4 minutes. Bravo!! Congrats to all of the TOP GUN winners: Eric Traut (Personal Injury), Dan Hodes (Medical Malpractice), Bijan Darvish (Employment Law) Michael Jeandron (Young Gun), and Jeffrey Ehrlich (Distinguished Achievement). To learn more about OCTLA, click here.

Appellate Win in Video Voyer Verdict

In Schrauwers et al., v. Roy, a Hollywood director (Roy) used his skills to secretly record numerous videos and dozens of pictures of his wife’s little sister (Schrauwers) and two of her friends in the bathroom, capturing them undressing, showering, and using the toilet. There were other victims who he secretly recorded on movie sets over a number of years. The case proceeded to trial two years ago and Plaintiffs were awarded a combined total of $850,000. Defendant Roy appealed the verdict to the Court of Appeal of the State of California Second Appellate District Division Two. The panel of justices unanimously affirmed the verdict stating that the Plaintiffs were entitled to the verdict and the costs related to the appeal. With interest, the verdict is now over $1 million.

Eric has notified all the Hollywood Studio executives that if they hire Roy, they are doing so at their own risk. Each was provided with a copy of the statement of decision from both the Superior and Appellate courts. While this may affect the collectability of the judgment, the plaintiffs and Eric believe it is more important to protect others from being victimized by the defendant in the future.

Read what Eric wrote on YELP about Bistro Jeanty located at 6510 Washington Street in Yountville, CA -  5 STARS!

"Nestled in the idyllic and walkable Napa town of Yountville, this French gem appropriately boasts its top-notch onion and tomato soups. The onion soup is topped with a crispy cheese and the tomato with a homemade puffed pastry. Two baskets of the baguette and butter are a must. Wash it all down with a medium-bodied Burgundy from their diverse wine list. If you were interested in comments about the lamb's tongue or pig's feet, then you've come to the wrong review.
Bien joué !!"
