Starting July 18th, donations will also be accepted
at the back door of the store located at 79 King St. E., Bowmanville
on Tuesdays to Fridays from 11am to 3pm

To accomodate clergy holiday schedules, the hours of the chapel will be adjusted from August 3rd to October 3rd

School Board Trustee Position

The Peterborough Victoria Northumberland and Clarington Catholic District School Board is seeking candidates for the position of Catholic Trustee to fill a Board vacancy and represent separate school ratepayers for the City of Peterborough. The appointed trustee will serve with the PVNC Catholic District School Board until the end of the current term of office in November 2026. Candidates do not have to reside within the city of Peterborough to apply!

Annual Walking Pilgrimage - In the Footsteps of the Holy Canadian Martyrs

August 13 to 19, 2023.

Departs from St Joseph's Church, Powassan at 1pm on August 13. The 130 km walk will end after 5 days at Holy Family Church, Britt where pilgrims will venerate the relics of the Martyrs. The Pilgrimage will conclude with Mass on the morning of August 19th.

Portiuncola Indulgence

On August 2 of each year, the "Pardon of Assisi" is celebrated in Assisi. According to the traditional account, in July, 1216, St. Francis was praying when he had a vision of Jesus and the Virgin Mary surrounded by a host of angels. Mary asked him what grace he desired, to which Francis replied that he desired the complete forgiveness of all sins for everyone who came to his beloved little church. Pope Honorius granted Francis his request. Over time, the indulgence was extended to all Franciscan churches around the world on August 2nd. La Verna in Peterborough will offer opportunities for the faithful to receive this indulgence.
