Lessons Learning from Bridging Gaps

Collaborative approaches to improving healthcare can be tailored to take account of people’s experiences of trauma. 'Bridging Gaps' is a collaborative project between, NIHR School for Primary Care Research, NIHR ARC West and the Centre for Academic Primary Care at the University of Bristol.

Dr Helen McGeown, one of the authors of the article and Honorary GP Consultant at the Centre for Academic Primary Care, University of Bristol, said:

“Relationships are at the heart of these co-production processes. It’s only by ongoing, long-term relationships with all partners that we hope to achieve delivery of care that is meaningfully ‘trauma-informed’. We call for adequate funding for the delivery of trauma-informed care and highlight the need for longevity of funding.”

NIHR Updates

Improve recruitment to studies using the Be Part of Research registry service

More than 190,000 volunteers have now signed up to the new Be Part of Research registry. The service is calling on all researchers with NIHR funded or supported studies to consider using the registry service as a route to finding suitable participants for studies.

Update regarding NIHR RfPB programmes

As you are aware, as part of NIHRs strategy to strengthen careers of under-represented disciplines and specialisms, the NIHR Research for Patient Benefit (RfPB) Programme has launched a series of highlight notices. The first call focussed on nurses and midwives, with more information regarding two further calls focussing on Methodologists and Allied Health Professionals detailed below:

The Methodologist highlight call is currently open for applications and will close on the 13 September 2023. Further details can be found on the funding opportunity and call specification pages. A webinar for this programme was held in May and the recording from the event is now available to watch.

The Allied Health Professionals highlight call is expected to go 'live' in December 2023 (exact date tbc) and we will share further details once available.

If you have any questions regarding any of the RfPB calls mentioned above, or would like a member of the RfPB team to come along and talk about the highlight notices, please contact the team via [email protected].
