The latest instalment from our fledgling imprint is a charming and humorous example of a traditional village cosy mystery.
There's Death in the Churchyard has the wealthy entrepreneur Ponderby Jonson prostrate on the church path, very dead, within minutes of appearing. But, as the poor millionaire succumbed, he used his dying breath to accuse his friend, the Squire, of murdering him!
Written with a light touch, it's a great summer read in which Gore gleefully exposes the vagaries of the social mores and conventions of the time. View on the website here.

| I need to clear up some confusion re last month's title. Bizarrely Amazon refused to allow advertising of Ninth Baronet with the original cover due to the 'blood'... So you'll see the above alternative on their sites. Both versions are selling fine so maybe the cover's not that important! |

| Whilst talk of a shop in Cambridge is reaching fever pitch, it's still a long way off in reality. That hasn't stopped a certain colleague digging out a display stand in readiness already! Our books look mighty fine on it, I have to admit. The slightly less attractive book stand in the other pic is next year's Cambridge Crime wall calendar's "Mr July"... But, if you're wandering the streets of Cambridge and see this chap approaching, don't fret. He has a curious and endearing habit of handing out free books! |

The next titles on the schedule are Lynn Brock's Q.E.D. and J.S. Fletcher's The Mill House Murder. Both excellent reads and sure to thrill. I did in the end give the Q.E.D. cover to a pro and it was well worth it - he did exactly what I wanted. you can see it here. But, of course, for now I hope you enjoy our latest. A favourite of Dorothy L. Sayers, it benefited from a glowing review by her at the time: 'I give Mr Gore full marks for atmosphere and entertainment value, with a special distinction for one quaint device which he has worked into his solution'.
