FOR HEALTHCARE PROFESSIONALS

Understanding Common Side Effects and
Emotional Impact of Surgical Scars in Women

Let's talk about some of the hugely impactful side effects of surgical scars resulting from C-sections, myomectomies, and hysterectomies. More specifically the prevalence of dyspareunia and the psychological and emotional effects these scars can have on women.

Surgical procedures such as C-sections, myomectomies (removal of uterine fibroids), and hysterectomies (removal of the uterus) have undoubtedly helped countless women overcome various health challenges. However, it's essential to recognize that these procedures can leave behind scars that may have physical and emotional implications

One of the significant concerns women may face after such surgeries is dyspareunia, which refers to pain or discomfort during sexual intercourse. Studies have reported varying rates of dyspareunia following these procedures. For C-sections, estimates range widely, with approximately 10% to 50% of women experiencing this symptom.

While dyspareunia can have multiple causes, surgical scars may contribute to this discomfort. Scarring can lead to adhesions that can form between organs or tissues. Adhesions can cause pain, pulling sensations, or restrictions in movement, potentially resulting in dyspareunia.

Apart from physical side effects, surgical scars can also have significant psychological and emotional effects on women. The presence of visible scars can act as constant reminders of the surgical experience, triggering a range of emotions. Some women may experience feelings of self-consciousness, body image concerns, or a loss of confidence. These emotional impacts can seriously affect intimate relationships and overall well-being.

Remember, each woman's experience is unique, and not all individuals will face the same side effects or emotional challenges. However, it is crucial to acknowledge and address these concerns to promote overall well-being and enhance the quality of life for women who have undergone C-sections, myomectomies, or hysterectomies.

One of the most incredible benefits to MSTR® treatment is the reduction (and often elimination) of dyspareunia. This hugely positive benefit for women (and their partners) make MSTR® a treatment worth investigating if you experience this symptom. Resolution of this intimate and potentially relationship-wrecking symptom IS possible

Feedback from recently qualified MSTR® practitioners:

"Very excited about the work itself. The results are truly jaw dropping.
So hats off to you for bringing MSTR® to the world."  - C.G.

" Thank you so very much Alastair!!
I really valued your scar tissue course.
It was fabulous and it has not only been a great addition
to my tool belt of modalities I have learnt to help people heal,
it has changed the way I view dysfunction in the physical body,
which is profound! Thank you, Alastair for an incredible gift of sharing
your Scar Tissue work with the world! ." - A.D.

" Thank you Alastair, I’m happy to be on the Online Practitioner Interactive Map. when I see a client for the first time now, I ask about scars from past medical procedures and accidents. The assessments and case study requirements are tough but fair and it really does weed out the ‘visitors’. The Facebook posts are inspiring and I am glad you are there to personally guide the contributor and monitor the site. " - M.M.

" Thank you so much Alastair!

I love the technique and will promote it a lot!

Kind regards" - A.P.

MSTR® Research continues...

With the completion of all MSTR® treatments for C-section scar subjects, we have now reached the end of the third stage of our research project for 2023.

In July we will be bringing our volunteers back for a final measurement analysis using myotonometry.

During May, we performed pre-treatment measurements of the scar, in which we evaluated (amongst other things) tissue tension, elasticity and stiffness of the scar. Measurements were be taken across three predetermined points on the scar.

A fifteen-minute MSTR® treatment was then applied with a pause half way through the treatment to take a mid-treatment measurement at those same points.

We repeated the same process three times, with a 7-day interval between the treatments.  Data was recorded and computer analysis is created using dedicated software.

We are 'crunching' the numbers as we speak and there are some very interesting results coming through with significant changes being recorded.

Thanks to all who have already generously donated to help fund this project. We really appreciate your support!
