Learn to flyfish like a biologist

Image description

NVCA's fisheries biologist Fred Dobbs and Cabela's Barrie will be hosting a flyfishing workshop!

Both smallmouth and largemouth bass are both exciting to catch while flyfishing! To be successful with these species, however, requires different gear, flies and techniques than fly fishing for trout.

Come join us on Saturday, June 17 to learn how to fly fish for bass to make sure you have the best ever summer season on the water!

Event details:
June 17 from 11 am - 1 pm

NVCA's new flood website and flood alerts

Image description

Flooding is one of the leading causes of public emergency in the Ontario.

Did you know that Angus, Stayner, Creemore, Alliston, Beeton, Wasaga Beach, and Collingwood are the areas that are the most susceptible to flooding in the Nottawasaga Watershed?

Communities outside of these areas may also experience flooding when you're least expecting it. Some areas may not have flooded for decades, but with the right combination of heavy or prolonged rain, snow melt, elevated stream flow, ice/debris jams, soil moisture and other factors, properties and lives are suddenly at risk.

NVCA has dedicated a new section of our website for information related to flooding. We also run a flood forecasting and warning system and issues alerts to to let municipalities, emergency departments, school boards and you know if there is a risk of flooding.

To get the most up to date flood messages, follow us on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram and subscribe to our flood email alerts
