Eric's Client Awarded Settlement of $6,000,000

Eric won a settlement of $6,000,000 for a client. The case, Pert v Rochberger, involved a driver hitting a 60-year-old good Samaritan who was walking back to her car on the freeway. The accident resulted in multiple fractures and surgeries. "This settlement will help our client move forward," says Eric. "Thankfully, our client can now focus on healing and her much-needed recovery," he adds.

Welcome to the Family, Baby Holland

Eric and Pamela welcome Eric’s first grandchild, Holland Woods Escobar. Eric's daughter, Jaclyn and her partner, Christopher, welcomed a beautiful baby girl on May 9th. Weighing 5.1 pounds and measuring 18.5 inches, Baby Holland is picture perfect and already deeply loved. Says Grandpa Eric, "Let the spoiling begin!" He adds, "Is Holland too young for a pony?"

Eric and Pamela's Great Adventure

In early May 2023, Eric and Pamela joined fellow American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA) members on an extraordinary tour of Ireland and Iceland. Starting on the Emerald Isle, the trip included a bike tour through Dublin, the pubs in the Temple Bar area, Irish whiskey and Irish dancing. The ABOTA group explored the ancient volcanic rock formations at the Giant's Causeway in Belfast and the extraordinary natural landscape of the Dingle Peninsula where some of The Last Jedi was filmed.

Traveling onto the land of Fire and Ice, the howling wind and rain of Iceland did not hinder anyone's adventure. Together, Eric and Pamela took the plunge in the pools of water in The Blue Lagoon. (Added bonus - a swim-up bar and mud facials!) They visited a whale exhibit, experienced Flyover Iceland, and Bill Clinton's favorite hotdog stand in Reykjavik. Eric practiced his shot put and rounded out the trip visiting Iceland's First Lady, Eliza Reid, and received a personalized signed copy of her book, Secrets of the Sprakkar, for Pamela. Says Eric, "Both Ireland and Iceland are ones for the record books."

Pamela and Eric Awed by Great Tryke Giveaway

Pamela and Eric volunteered at the Orange County Trial Lawyers' Charities (OCTLC) and Los Angeles Trial Lawyers Charities (LATLC) 7th Great Tryke Giveaway (GTG).

This year's event provided 32 children challenged with Cerebral Palsy, Autism, Arthrogryposis, and Muscular Dystrophy with specially fitted adaptive tricycles. Taking place at Bancroft Middle School in Long Beach, the GTG brought mile wide smiles, laughter, and love. Traut Firm's Day at the Ball Park

In April, the Traut Firm enjoyed a day at Angel Stadium of Anaheim joining upwards of 20,000 fans watching the Los Angeles Angels take a swing against the Oakland Athletics. The afternoon included watching the magic of Ohtani on the mound, 11 strike outs, and 18 total base hits with an 8-7 victory over the Oakland Athletics. Needless to say, the adventure was a homerun! Says Eric, "Let's hear it for the Halos and a 2023 World Series run."

Eric Welcomes New ABOTA Members

On Sunday, May 14, 2023, the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA) held its National Board Meeting in Dublin, Ireland where over 75 new people were voted into membership. Says Eric, "Congratulations and welcome to all of the new ABOTA members, especially the five new Orange County Chapter members: Michael C. Herzog, Michael Jeandron, Mark O'Connor. David Sugden, and Scot D. Wilson." ABOTA is a nonprofit dedicated to the preservation and promotion of the civil jury trial right provided by the Seventh Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.

Nestled in the heart of downtown Park City, this restaurant has the ambiance and good food to earn a visit.

The servers and assistants are fantastic. They were all attentive, including our server, Juan, and did not try to rush us despite a line out the door and a 90 minute waitlist for those who did not make reservations.

The menu is interesting and has some dishes I'd recommend and others I would not. They boast on the menu they have the 'best' short rib grilled cheese sandwich in the state. I would agree, although it's the only short rib grilled cheese I've ever had. My wife had a baseball cut filet that she enjoyed.

As starters, try the blackened shishito peppers that they drizzle with a slightly spicy sweet and sour glaze and the heirloom tomato and avocado salad. We were less impressed with the cauliflower starter with an almost tasteless dipping sauce and the ginger broccolini side.

Overall, they get a solid 4+ which appears to be supported by many others who braved the 30 degree weather and waited a very long time for a table on a Thursday night.

Santa Ana College graduate, Evelia Sanchez is a 25+ year Traut Firm employee who is both a legal assistant and bookkeeper. In addition, she is responsible for all e-filings in both the State and Federal courts throughout California.

Evelia began working with the Traut Firm in 1989. After a few short months, she became a legal assistant to the firm, and later, to Eric specifically. Evelia continues to be an essential member of the Traut team, working on many of the high profile, wrongful death and personal injury cases handled by the firm.
