| In 2023, let's Stand for the Land! |
|
Happy New Year and blessings for 2023!
A new year means a new campaign for Development and Peace. This year, our campaign kicks off during Share Lent with the theme "Stand for the Land." We will focus on our partners in Honduras and Columbia who are working to protect their land from exploitation, violence, and environmental destruction caused by corrupt governments and industry.
To orient ourselves to this campaign, we are excited to invite you to our first in-person workshop since 2020! Our workshop for the Diocese of Peterborough will take place Saturday, February 18, from 1 to 3 pm at St Anne's Parish Hall, Peterborough (directions here). We hope you can join us. |

| Letter of support from Canadian Catholic Bishops |
|
An invitation to Create Hope In October 2022, Development and Peace – Caritas Canada, the official international solidarity organization of the Catholic Church in Canada, celebrated 55 years of solidarity. It has therefore been 55 years since we, the Catholic Bishops of Canada, founded this visionary organization that aspires to build a better world. For fifty-five years, human dignity and social justice have been at the heart of its projects and programs. For 55 years, this social movement, supported by the Catholic community in Canada, has been working for justice and peace, inspired by Catholic Social Teaching, especially the preferential option for the poor.
