NOAC 2024

As 2022 comes to a close, we find ourselves reflecting back on the past year. From NLS & DYLC, NOAC 2022, the first-ever G16 Conclave, and all the events in between, 2022 has been an amazing year.

This special edition of the The Section Scoop will reflect on the past year — reminisce on the events, remember those we've lost, and share in the memories we have had — and look toward the future.

To all the officers, chairmen, advisers, volunteers, Scouting professionals, donors, supporters, and of course, all the Arrowmen across the section, THANK YOU for making 2022 a success! This edition is for you!

Chiefly Speaking

Brothers,

2022 was by far a year unlike any other for me and for Scouting. It brought new experiences and unforgettable memories. I graduated high school and recently finished my first term of college at Oregon State. I also got to serve as the Handicraft Director at Camp Meriwether where I got thrown into the lake five times during the summer. Scouting brought us a amazing NOAC and the first-ever G16 Conclave. Alongside so many outstanding events within our units, chapters and lodges.

Looking Back: The First Year of G16

2022 kicked off for the section much like how 2021 ended – full of change and excitement.

Following the Order of the Arrow’s national restructuring, we left Section W-1S and the Western Region behind us and became Section G16 or the newly formed Gateway Region. It was a bittersweet ending to an identity our section had carried for more than a decade, rich with memories and history. As we reflected on our time as W-1S, we also couldn’t help but wonder… what next?

2023 NATIONAL OFFICERS

Section chiefs from around the country gathered near Dallas, TX on December 27-30th for the 2022 National OA Planning Meeting (NPM).

During NPM, section officers elected the next national officers of the Order of the Arrow, developed committees and began planning the national programs of emphasis for 2023.

Congratulations to all of the newly elected national officers. We cannot wait for an exciting year of Scouting in 2023!

Lo La'Qam Geela 2022 In Review

It has been a pleasure being a part of the progress the lodge has made in this 2022 year. The lodge has grown tremendously thanks to the hard work of all the Arrowmen and especially for the LEC. This year, they have accomplished a great feat, moving past the huge block experienced for two years.

Tsisqan 2022 In Review

2022 was an eventful year for Tsisqan Lodge. We kicked off the year by introducing Mark Stueve as our new lodge adviser. After that, we held a Polestar training at the council office in Eugene, which was led by Ryo Takei, our former Section G16 Vice Chief. Then to end our winter time festivities, we had our Winter Workshop Wonderland at Camp Baker, a weekend filled with fun activities, good food, and friendship all around.
