| YELP Review: Splashes Restaurant in Laguna Beach, CA |
|
Says Eric about Splashes: "Excellent seaside location, but with some entrees that require some attention. Splashes is in the iconic Surf & Sand Hotel in Laguna. We have eaten there half a dozen times over the last 5 years, with overall good experiences. This time, in our birthday celebration group of 6, 3 of us had underwhelming culinary experiences. The three dishes to avoid in order of worst being first are the Cauliflower main course, Pistachio Tagliatelle, and the short ribs. The Cauliflower was not edible. It was under-cooked and had a horrible tasting spice sprinkled on or cooked with it. Two painful bites was all I could handle. Others who tried a bite had the same 'ewe' reaction. The Tagliatelle can best be described as 'blah'. Muted flavors with a bland cheesy aftertaste. The short ribs were fatty and lacked flavor. Those who had the scallops and Branzino reported that both dishes were good. Location, location, location is what this eatery is really all about. I suggest you enjoy the sunset from the bar and order a few good appetizers and call it a night."
