Learn More

NAMI In Our Own Voice is an interactive presentation that provides insight into what it’s like to live with a mental health condition. Presentations are led by adults with lived experience and include video and discussion. Audiences are given a safe place to ask questions and gain understanding of an often misunderstood topic. Through dialogue, we help grow the movement to build better lives.

NAMI Finger Lakes, your local affiliate of the National Alliance on Mental Illness, is building our team of presenters for In Our Own Voice in order to provide our community with better understanding of the importance of mental health, what happens, what helps and what’s next when we have the resources and supports we all need to thrive.

Contact us today to learn more about becoming a NAMI In Our Own Voice presenter. We provide free training and support to help you help others in this unique way.

2022 Calendar Sale a Success!
A huge THANK YOU to John Kucko, Omnidon Productions, and our supporters! Proceeds from John Kucko’s 2022 New York Scenes Calendar project raised $20,000 for NAMI NYS affiliates who participated in this year’s calendar sale. We're grateful for the many NAMI Finger Lakes supporters who purchased these beautiful calendars. Your support through your purchase brings help and hope to families seeking our services.
Through the amazing generosity of the followers on the John Kucko Digital Facebook page, John has raised over $50,000 toward important causes in the three years of his calendar project! We're so grateful that NAMI was their cause of choice this year.
NAMI "Meet Little Monster" children's mental health resource

NAMI announces the release of “Meet Little Monster,” a mental health coloring and activity book created for young children as a tool for them to express and explore their feelings in a fun, creative and empowering way, as well as to help foster dialogue between children and the safe adults in their lives.

NAMI is proud to make “Meet Little Monster” available for download to families, organizations, teachers and young people across the country at no-cost in English as well as Spanish.

Created by NAMI’s State Organization NAMI Washington, “Meet Little Monster” was developed in response to both the COVID-19 pandemic, when children were suddenly cut off from their friends, teachers, coaches, club leaders and school counselors, and the Black Lives Matter protests for racial justice after the murder of George Floyd. They were experiencing big and powerful feelings without the community support and reassurance that they had access to before quarantine.

The book was written and designed by Sophia Nicholson Keener and illustrated by Honor Heindl. It also includes a list of mental health resources.

Registration is now open for NAMICon 2022, NAMI's annual convention is taking place virtually June 14–16!

As one of the largest community gatherings of mental health advocates in the U.S., NAMICon provides an incredible opportunity to bring awareness, resources and solutions to a wider audience of people affected by mental health conditions — both nationally and globally.

The pandemic and global events of the past two years have had a profound effect on everyone’s mental health — individuals, youth, families, communities of color and frontline professionals. It’s more important than ever for us to join Together for Mental Health, a timely and appropriate theme for our 2022 convention.

Don’t miss out on:

  • NAMICon’s incredible value! Registration rates will remain low for 2022: Only $10 for students and peers, $15 for NAMI members and $25 for non-members.
  • A special panel event with Dr. Ken Duckworth, NAMI’s Chief Medical Officer, offering an exclusive preview of NAMI’s upcoming book You Are Not Alone releasing this fall. Written by Dr. Duckworth, this comprehensive guide to recovery includes real stories from individuals and families navigating their mental health journeys as well as practical answers from experts on commonly asked questions.
  • Robust programming with 30+ workshops built around five tracks focused on mental health research and treatment; youth and young adults; transforming crisis response; promoting equitable mental and emotional support for underserved communities; and best practices for NAMI State Organizations and NAMI Affiliates.
  • Convenience and accessibility! There are no travel costs or logistics to arrange. Your internet connection gives you access to the NAMICon experience no matter where you are.

Your registration fee includes ALL virtual activities for June 14–16. The programming for Tuesday, June 14, will be dedicated to our NAMI State Organizations and NAMI Affiliates. General attendees are invited to begin their convention experience with our opening plenary on Wednesday, June 15. More detailed schedule information will be posted on nami.org/convention in the upcoming weeks.
