Week of Prayer for Christian Unity 2022

Image description

The 2022 theme for the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity, “We saw the star in the East, and we came to worship him” (Mt 2:2), was prepared by the Middle East Council of Churches, based in Beirut, Lebanon. The theme speaks to our world’s urgent need for solidarity and transformation in the face of political, economic, and social turmoil, including the challenges and injustices highlighted by the COVID-19 pandemic. As we join the Christians of the Middle East in the journey to Christ’s manger, may we become a sign of the unity that God desires for all creation, and may we return to our home, our churches, and our world by new ways.

We are unable to gather locally due to the pandemic health precautions so the Roman Catholic Diocese of Peterborough and area churches are joining in prayer virtually with the Greater Toronto Council of Churches.

The Greater Toronto Council of Churches invites you to a livestream celebration

on Sunday, January 23rd, 2022, at 4:00 pm

Please keep in your thoughts and prayers...

those who have died, especially...

Arthur Elgar, Dr. Paul Hoy
Milagros & Herminigildo M Flores
Joan Noonan & John Witheridge

and those who are sick, especially...

Arturo Segunla
Peter Karmiris & Family
Tyler Hoffman, Fr. Peter Conlin
Bob Gibson, Annie Maas
 Michael Johnston & Jozsef Vincze

Jesus, Our Lord, we ask you to have mercy on all who are sick. Give them your strength and love and help them carry this cross with faith. May their sufferings be one with yours, overcome the power of evil and lead others to our Father in Heaven. Lord Jesus, hear our prayer, for you are Lord forever and ever. Amen.

We are brothers and sisters in Christ who help and support each other even through our prayers. Every one of us could use extra spiritual support and prayers. Our new Parish Prayer Board found just outside the Adoration Chapel offers a place to leave your prayers. Consider also taking a prayer and join it to your own.
