| Clergy Change at St. Joseph Church |
Our bishop has appointed Fr. Isaac to be the new Pastor of Sacred Heart Church in Trout Creek. This will take effect on August 3rd. We thank him much for his service here over the last two years knowing he goes with our best wishes and prayers. There will be an opportunity for all to personally express their gratitude for his service after all Sunday Masses on July 30th and 31st. |
To accommodate this change, there will be a couple schedule adjustments: The Adoration Chapel will remain closed from Sundays at 8pm till Tuesdays at 2pm beginning immediately. Mass will not be celebrated on Monday's. |

| Papal Visit for Truth and Reconciliation |
Pope Francis will travel to Canada from July 24-29. The historic visit, focused on Indigenous healing and reconciliation, will be the fourth papal journey to Canada and the first since Saint John Paul II’s visit in 2002. The trip is intended to be a followup to the Pope's apology offered on April 1st. But this visit from our pope won't be the end of our efforts for truth hand reconciliation. |
The Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops announced a nation-wide collective financial commitment in the amount of $30 million dollars to support healing and reconciliation initiatives for residential school survivors, their families, their communities and our Church. Our own diocese has agreed to pledge the sum of $400,000. |
Our Parish is happy to contribute to these efforts for truth and reconciliation. A new group is being formed to address these issues and to see how we can grow through this process. Those interested in assisting (especially those with an indigenous, First Nations or Metis background) are encouraged to reach out to our pastor. |
Supporting Truth and Reconciliation |
The Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops has made a financial pledge of $30 million dollars nationally and established the Indigenous Reconciliation Fund. Dioceses across Canada are joining this financial pledge and the Diocese of Peterborough will be contributing $400 000. The Fund will support Indigenous Peoples generated projects in these four areas: - Healing and reconciliation for communities and families; - Culture and language revitalization; - Education and community building; and - Dialogues for promoting indigenous spirituality and culture. |
