Season of Plenty

Fall is the season of plenty, and the harvests have been good this year. It makes me appreciate all we have and reflect on those that go without. Giving and giving thanks at Nourish these days is top of mind.

We’re currently assembling our team to participate in the BlueNose Charity Challenge—both virtual and in-person—and raising funds to support our programs. We’d love for you to join our team or support a member.

Our Nourish Your Roots farm to school fundraising program is well underway, with the boxes bursting at the seams with beautiful, fresh local produce. Consider buying a box for your own family or donating one. Donating a box does 3 positive actions: nourishing kids via school food programs, supporting local farmers and helping a family in need. A win-win-win!

How will you give thanks this season?

Goulash (Local Food Lunch Toolkit Recipe)

Speaking of the Local Food Lunch Toolkit, this month's recipe for Goulash is easy, healthy and delicious--but don't take our word for it! This is what Nourish volunteer Sue had to say:

Kids cooking in the kitchen

"I’m always struggling to find new healthy options for my kids' school lunches. The standard, sandwich, fruit, granola bar gets old quickly and I’m always looking for more variety to keep them interested and provide the proper nutrition. Then the Nourish Local Food Lunch Toolkit entered my life! The recipes are easy to follow and I can involve my kids in preparing their own lunches. This makes it fun and I find they are more open to trying different things when they get involved in making what they are eating.

My kids are loving the Goulash recipe and we’re excited to try some of the others. Thank you Nourish for making an everyday task more fun and easy!"
