The Venezuelan migrant crisis, now the second worst in the world after Syria’s, has left millions needing some form of aid. Their plight is the focus of an International Donors’ Conference in Solidarity with Venezuelan Refugees and Migrants that Canada is hosting.
Development and Peace is organizing a special event to the conference on June 15, 2021, at 9:30am ET. The Zoom webinar, entitled The Venezuelan refugee and migrant crisis: solidarity and fraternity in action, will be live-translated in English, French and Spanish.
It will feature presentations by the Archbishop of Maracaibo, Venezuela; two UN experts on human rights and refugees; and Latin American Caritas representatives. Together, they will analyze the Venezuelan crisis in the light of the Fratelli Tutti encyclical; review the Church’s response; and make the case for doing more to help the refugees and their host communities.
