NAMI Finger Lakes extends our great appreciation for all of the Dump & Run volunteers and patrons who participated in this year's event.

Many thanks to our volunteers Bob, Donna, Deb, Kitty, Matt, Mark, Carol, Laura, Howard, Xavier, Molly, Sara, Matt, Steve, Eli, Jae, Elisa, Cheryl, Lisa, and Kate. (Our apologies if we have missed your name, you are all valued and appreciated!).

SPECIAL thanks to Bob, Kathy and Dale for over 100 hours each and our deep appreciation to Donna and Kitty, who spent every hour of all four days at the sale, on top of countless hours during the summer. NAMI Volunteers committed nearly 800 hours of their time to this event. WOW!

These volunteers help NAMI Finger Lakes sustain our mission to provide free education and support in our community. Their commitment helps us fight stigma and shine a light on the needs of people living with mental illness and their loved ones.

NAMI FL extends our great appreciation for Dale and Kathy Taylor and their commitment to coordinating work for this event, keeping us all informed and guiding our volunteers. It is a huge undertaking!

To the organizers of Cops Kids and Toys who continue to value the contributions NAMI FL volunteers make to this event, we thank you. Your work in the community has brought joy to hundreds of children and their families.

And last, but not least, thank you to all the patrons who attended Dump & Run. Your participation in this event supports two great organizations, Cops Kids & Toys and NAMI Finger Lakes, and helps our environment by giving the many like-new and very usable items sold a new home and saved from going to the landfill. Hats off to you!

Thank you for another great year!

With full hearts,

NAMI Finger Lakes

NAMI Mid Hudson Offers Free Virtual Peer to Peer Class

NAMI Mid Hudson will offer a virtual Peer to Peer class beginning in October.

NAMI Peer-to-Peer is a free, eight-session educational program for adults with mental health conditions who are looking to better understand themselves and their recovery.

Taught by trained leaders with lived experience, this program includes activities, discussions and informative videos. However, as with all NAMI programs, it does not include recommendations for treatment approaches.

What You’ll Gain

NAMI Peer-to-Peer is a safe, confidential space. The course provides an opportunity for mutual support and growth. Experience compassion and understanding from people who relate to your experiences. This is a place to learn more about recovery in an accepting environment.

NAMI Peer-to-Peer helps you:

  • Set a vision and goals for the future
  • Partner with health care providers
  • Develop confidence for making decisions
  • Practice relaxation and stress reduction tools
  • Share your story
  • Strengthen relationships
  • Enhance communication skills
