Black Minds Matter

NAMI's guide, Sharing Hope: An African American Guide to Mental Health provides a wealth of information for families navigating mental health conditions.

Become Your Greatest Advocate

"African Americans generally experience disparities in mental health care. Some of these disparities are due to bias and lack of cultural sensitivity from the mental health system, which manifest as misdiagnoses and inadequate treatment, among others. Furthermore, the mental health system can be challenging to navigate. For these reasons, learning as much as possible about the illness, treatments, your rights, resources, etc. will help you navigate the system so that you can get appropriate care. Your local NAMI can show you how to find the information you need. The more you know, the more you can make educated decisions about your care."

NAMI Conducting Survey on Schizophrenia and Psychosis Conditions

NAMI Conducting Survey on Schizophrenia and Psychosis Conditions

NAMI is conducting an anonymous online survey to learn what participants think and what they know about clinical research on schizophrenia and related psychosis conditions, as well as what concerns they may have if they or a family member were taking part in a clinical research study.

Survey responses will be used to help NAMI develop the most helpful information and support resources possible for people participating in an upcoming clinical research study.

We are seeking adults with a diagnosis of schizophrenia, schizo-affective disorder, schizo-phreniform disorder or brief psychotic disorder and family members/caregivers of someone living with one of these conditions to take part in the anonymous online survey.

If you or someone you know is interested in participating, please use this link: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/57DQHY2
